Our occupational therapy program has unique features such as modernized therapeutic equipment with periodic quality checking. Occupational therapy mainly focuses on the evaluation and training of gross and fine motor skills, prewriting skills, ADL, social skills, play skills and various sensory issues of children.
Gross motor skills include: strengthening core muscles and stability, developing endurance and stamina, bilateral integration, improving balance and coordination, sensory modulation to boost attention
Fine motor skills include: improving pencil grasp , increasing grip strength , coordination of hand muscles and pre writing skills
Other skills include: to reduce hyperactivity and improve attention through sensory integration, performing age appropriate play behavior and also to be able to lead a proper social and emotional well-being life.
OTs can help in regaining independence in all areas of the lives.
Example: eating, bathing, toileting, grooming etc. known as the Activities of daily living. We help with barriers that affect a person’s emotional, social, and physical needs.
OT can be benefited by conditions like Autism spectrum disorders, Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, Delayed developmental milestones, Cerebral palsy, Downs’s syndrome and any other similar conditions in which the child does not exhibit age appropriate skills.
We use standardized assessment reports, scales and reassessments that will ensure the parents with proper progress of their children. Realistic goals are taken on a monthly basis to help the children achieve them. The parents are also involved in the therapy sessions so that they can provide proper home therapy techniques.
We provide a holistic approach in treating the children as well as properly guiding the parents on how to manage the children in their day to day lives. Our main aim is bringing out the best in differently abled children and making them socially appropriate, appreciable and acceptable.
Sensory Integration (SI)
SI is the processing, Integation, and coordination of sensory information from the body and the surroundings. Sensory Integration is important in the things that we need to do on a daily basis, such as getting dressed, eating, moving around, socializing and learning.
The Seven Senses
- Vision
- Auditory
- Olfactory
- Gustatory(Taste)
- Touch
- Vestibular(Movement)
- Proprioception(Body position)
For most of us, the development of sensory integration take place when we are young as part of our normal development.
If sensory integration is affected it may result into:
- Behavior problem
- Learning issues
- Speech and communication disorders
- Motor planning issues
- Activities of daily living (ADL).
